Healthy Hot Chocolate
One thing I absolutely loved growing up was hot chocolate, but it always almost gave me a huge stomachache. I've missed drinking it and finally decided to find a healthier recipe. This one is amazing! So rich, decadent and delicious without being loaded with sugar. Add a little whipped cream on top and this will be your new daily treat on those cold winter nights. You could easily add in some peppermint, peanut butter powder or cinnamon for added flavor. So easy to make and extremely worth it.
Healthy Hot Chocolate
Makes 2 Servings
2 cups unsweetened almond milk or milk of choice
5 tsp. cocoa or cacao powder
1 Tbsp. pure maple syrup
pinch of kosher salt
2 Tbsp. dark chocolate chips or chunks
1/2 tsp. pure vanilla extract
1. In a small saucepan, heat the milk until just simmering. Whisk in the cocoa powder, maple syrup, and salt. Add the chocolate chips and vanilla. Whisk until the chocolate is melted and smooth.
2. Pour into a mug and serve, topping with whipped cream if desired.
